Welcome to CURTIS VARNER FURNITURE & CABINETRY. I have been working with wood since 1987 when I started doing cabinetry with a friend. I have now moved on to also make custom, hand-crafted, one of a kind furniture pieces that include coffee tables, end tables, dining tables, beds, armoires, credenzas, dressers, desks, and chairs. I continue to make all types of cabinetry including entertainment centers, wall units, bookcases, and shelving systems. Finally, I make custom kitchens, bathroom vanities, closet systems, and any other type of utilitarian cabinetry.
I prefer to do the design work myself but I will also work off designs provided directly by the client or by architects and designers. I use an architectural cad computer program and provide easy to read drawings of each project.
My custom furniture, cabinetry and kitchens are constructed from a variety of woods which include red and white oak, cherry, maple, alder, walnut, pecan, fir, knotty pine, and mahogany as well as most exotic woods. I also make pieces that are ready for painting. If glass, metal, tile, or any other material is used I work directly with other skilled craftspeople. I try to work in an environmentally friendly way and avoid using endangered woods, which most often have viable alternatives.
